2024 is a general election year for all municipalities in Saskatchewan. Cities, towns, villages, and northern municipalities will hold their general elections on November 13. Election day for resort villages is July 27.

 

Election Resources for Citizens Running for Council

 

The Ministry of Government Relations, in consultation with the municipal associations (Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association, Urban Municipal Administrators Association of Saskatchewan and Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association), developed the following resources geared toward citizens who are thinking about running for municipal council:

 

Guide – Consider Running for Municipal Council – A citizen’s guide for candidacy in municipal elections.

 

Videos – Four pre-recorded videos that break down the guide content into shorter video clips by topic.

 

Poster – A poster that contains a QR code that the public can use to go to saskatchewan.ca where the new resources are located.

Please be advised that the Village of St. Louis will be conducting a municipal general election for the office of Mayor and Council members on Wednesday November 13, 2024.

 

Candidates for Mayor:  Incumbent Marc Caron, Curt Regnier

 

Candidates for Council (4 seats):  Incumbent Tristen Boettcher, Edward Lussier, Pauline Lussier, Joanne Moisan, Bentley Richard, Loretta Vandale.

Elector’s Qualifications

At least 18 years of age on Election Day.

Canadian citizen on Election Day.

Resident of Saskatchewan for at least 6 months on Election Day.

And, either one of the following:

Is a resident of the Village for at least 3 months on Election Day.

Is the owner of assessable land within the Village for at least 3 months on Election Day.

How to Vote

There will not be any door-to-door enumeration of voters.  Register at the poll when you vote.

To register to vote at the polling station, an election official will assist you with completing a voter’s registration form and you will be asked to sign it.  You will also be required to provide evidence of identity and residence.

After you have registered, you will receive a ballot with the names of the candidates for each office requiring a poll.  You may vote for up to the number of candidates to be elected for each office.

Evidence of Identity and Residence

All voters shall provide to the deputy returning officer and the poll clerk one of the following to prove his or her identity:

One piece of identification issued by the Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan, a municipality or a government agency that contains a photograph of the voter and his or her name and address (e.g. Saskatchewan driver’s license); or

Two pieces of information prescribed in the regulations, each of which establishes the voter’s name and at least oner of which establishes the voter's address; (e.g. tax notice, utility bill):
